I'll defenitely...@karni Thanks for the comment. I'll defenitely go throught he video. However, it is perfectly normal to execute an AsyncTask from an Activity. As mentioned in this article the AsycTask can manipulate the UI as well as perform long task in the background thread.<br />As far as Activity being gone, you can see the documentation :<br />http://developer.android.com/resources/articles/painless-threading.html<br />The documentation talks about being able to cancel the AsyncTask appropriately whenever the parent Activity no longer exists.<br /><br />Handler is usually required when you are managing threads on your own and passing data between threads. AsyncTask is a convenience class that manages one worker thread for you to perform any long tasks.<br /><br />I would be happy to know what you think and discuss more if you like.
